Between London & Bath

We picked up a rental car at Heathrow. Dad is driving. I am navigating. Mom is trying not to scream too much. We hit a few curbs and have to talk through every intersection to make sure we turn into the correct lane. No time for sightseeing while in the car. It takes too much concentration to make sure we don't die. Since we didn't (or haven't yet), we did make it to our first stop --
Windsor Castle. Said to be the oldest, still occupied castle in the world.
St. George Chapel
In the yard here, knights in the Order of the Garter held jousting matches. It's why there are always 24 living knights in the order. It makes the matches even - 12 vs 12. Just in case of a modern day joust tournament.
One of the few visible guards of the castle. There are plenty more in hiding.
The Long Walk gives a view of the whole castle. We only walked halfway.
We left Windsor and drove to Stonehenge. In the picture below, if you look off in the distance (near the tree line) you can see several barrows. Stonehenge seemed to attract pilgrims, sacrifices, and burials.
It started raining right as we got there. Taking pictures became very difficult with the wind blowing the rain in every direction. I tell you what, the rain seems wetter in England than it does in Utah.
This is what much of the stone is covered with. Very hairy rocks.
It was a relief to get back on the shuttle. We were drenched and cold. My glasses didn't know what had just happened.
Since the rain ended our trip to Stonehenge a bit early, we decided to divert to Salisbury to see the cathedral there. It was built between 1220 and 1258. It is famous for having the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom. It contains the world's oldest working clock (circa 1386) and has 1 of 4 copies of the Magna Carta.
There was this strange art exhibit going on around and inside the cathedral. Sculptures by Sophie Ryder. It was a bit bizarre seeing giant rabbits everywhere.
The nave
That old clock...still ticking away.
Not sure what crime I committed (probably too much eye-rolling at my parents)
Near the cathedral
From Salisbury, we drove to Bath.
