My first day spent in Michigan. After sleeping for a long time, we puttered around and then went to watch the boys' swim meet at a local high school. Memories of my own swim meets long ago kept fluttering through my mind. It was fun watching my nephews compete and enjoy themselves while doing it.
Adam finishing his freestyle race (note the excessive celebration from the kid in the other lane...).
Eli cutting through the water in his freestyle race.
After the meet, we raced home for a bowl of chili and then raced back out to get a slice of pie to celebrate Pi Day (3.14). Everybody was caught stuffing their faces with pie. If I hadn't been taking the pictures, you would have seen me doing the same with a slice of blackberry peach crumb pie. So good!!!
All the kid-lets preparing to enjoy their Pi Day pie.
Naomi preferred a huge rice crispy treat.
Whatever it is, Eli is guilty of it!
Adam is modeling his glasses and cool face for me.
Esther definitely had a mouth full of pie.
Andrea is pictured with some of the other tasty pies that were consumed.
Dan was caught with his mouth full of the goodness.
I think the other best part of the day was when Dan demonstrated for us how Pi works. He used his belt to encircle a small plate at our table. He then marked the area on his belt and spread the belt across the plate demonstrating that the length across the plate was 3 and a bit pieces of the area of the belt. I am not using any of the correct terminology and have probably confused some people, but Dan showed us exactly what Pi is and it was cool.
"What great pics of our most beloved MI children and grandchildren! Thank-you, Dad"
