I was secondary nurse during a bad trauma. After we got the patient upstairs, I was helping clean up. We have a device called a Belmont Infuser that we use when doing "Mass Transfusion Protocol" or MTP. That means we fill a tub with 3 units of blood and infuse all three (approx 900 ml) in less than 2 minutes. As secondary nurse, I was in charge of MTP, so I was in charge of cleaning it up. Well, I was carefully undoing each bag of blood from the tub where the blood pours in. I was all done and went to pull the tub off its pole and a huge spray of blood splashed all across me and the wall. As my co-workers said, "At least it was clean blood?"
