Washington D.C. Day 1

Such a cute face to be greeted with!
The plan was to picnic at the tidal basin and enjoy the blooming cherry blossoms. Traffic was crazy and we gave up on finding parking. We ended up at this school and picnicked here.
This little one liked her first taste of black licorice. My kinda girl!
I walked into the Madison Library of Congress and found myself in a strange, employee only back entrance. Confused, I backed out slowly and walked around to the front. Not much better. Back outside, I asked and was told it was another block or two away; "the pretty building." Well, I found the Adams Library of Congress. Not very pretty, but I tried anyways. Same results. Kept walking.
I finally found the Jefferson Library of Congress! (it is the pretty building)
My crappy picture of the famous dome
Minerva, Roman goddess of wisdom and sponsor of the arts. She is also the goddess of defensive war. To her lower left is Nike, the Greek goddess of victory.
